Phosphatidyl Choline
Phosphatidylcholine is the biochemical word for Lecithin. Lecithin supplements are a mixture of phospholipids, compounds that are considered absolutely essential for cellular membrane composition. In our diets, phospholipids have been associated with a reduction of cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. Because of this, Lecithin is used as a supplement to prevent heart disease, manage high cholesterol and manage high triglyceride levels. Lecithin is also a significant source of the acetylcholine precursor choline. This may indicate Lecithin supplementation in neurological conditions, such as Alzheimer's and ADHD.
